Design Coordinator (E&D Lead).

For our client, an international pharma company in Schaffhausen, we are looking for a Design Coordinator (E&D Lead) to lead the design aspects of Innovative Medicines (Pharmaceutical).

Tasks & Responsibilities:
 

• Works with appointed Design firms to utilize effective design methods.
• Leads the front end design process including all aspects of design (Arch, Mech, Elec, Process, Automation, etc.).
• Prepares Request for Proposal (RFP) for Architect/Engineer (A/E) services and Lead A/E interviews/selection and on-boarding process
• Works with the Regional E&D Director, Project Dir./Project Mgr. to manage the performance (cost, schedule, quality) of A/E firm and define correction action plans if necessary
• Provides leadership and directs the design for projects. The E&D Lead must:
  • Assure use of Value Improving Practices (VIPs) such as Value Engineering, Constructability Reviews.
  • Assure the appropriate company standards, guidelines, and regulatory requirements (cGXP, EHS, …) are incorporated to deliver compliant and efficient project designs
  • Coordinate/lead key design reviews with SMEs including other corporate or affiliate resources such as EHS, Risk Management, WW Security, etc.
  • Assure that the company Standard Design Platforms are deployed on all projects.
  • Setup project specific training for internal and external SMEs.
  • Assure that projects meet the company Sustainability policy and drive the certification process.
  • Utilize the IDEA project Delivery Process
  • Lead effort to resolve key design conflicts in construction and commissioning phase with appropriate SMEs
• Leads the final close-out with the A/E firm including executing Lessons Learned process. 

Must Haves:
 

• Very good project & design management skills required
• Ability to work within multi-geographic teams.
• Solid engineering and technical background
• Experience in directing internal and external engineering teams and translating business objectives into engineering solutions
• Experience working in highly matrixed organization
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• AE Design experience preferred
• Good design management and strong technical skills, knowledge in technical disciplines
• Good interpersonal skills
• Documented success achieving project goals
• Drives innovative solutions to meet project goals on local level
• Knowledge of 3D BIM practices is an advantage
