R&D Engineer Power Electronics - Medium Voltage
The R&D Engineer will be part of the Medium Voltage Drives R&D team, focusing on the design and development of Medium Voltage Power Electronics Frequency Converters for various industries such as marine, wind, water, oil and gas, food, metals, and mining. Responsibilities include leading the system design, specification, testing, and qualification of key components for a new family of ABB MV Drives Frequency Converters.
Responsibilities:
- Lead system design, specification, testing, and qualification of components for MV frequency converters.
- Contribute to the development of key Power Electronics Technologies Expertise within the team.
- Engage in practical experimentation, testing, and validation in MV lab environment.
- Collaborate with suppliers, ensuring components meet necessary qualifications.
- Participate in applied research and development activities.
- Maintain a solution-focused approach and effective communication skills.
Background:
- Master's or PhD in electrical engineering, with a focus on Power Electronics and Medium Voltage applications.
- Strong experience in Power Electronics System Design and Development, preferably with High Power and Medium Voltage converters.
- Proficiency in modelling, simulation, and system design analysis using advanced engineering tools.
- Interest in practical experimentation, testing, and validation in MV lab environment.
- Self-motivated, solution-oriented individual with excellent communication skills.
- Fluency in English; knowledge of German is a plus.
