qualifications
Psychotherapist Diploma: You must hold a recognized qualification in psychotherapy.
Recognition by PsyKo Switzerland: According to Swiss law, psychotherapists must meet the educational and professional criteria set by the PsyKo (Psychology Professions Act). You must have your foreign qualifications recognized by the Federal Department of Home Affairs (FDHA), if applicable.
Licensing: Registration with a Swiss cantonal register is required for clinical practice.
Clinical Experience: Minimum of 2 years of post-qualification experience in psychotherapy.
Language Skills: Proficiency in one of the official Swiss languages (German, French, Italian), with English being an advantage.
Work Permit: You must be eligible to work in Switzerland (EU/EFTA nationals or holding relevant Swiss permits).
Continuing Education: Commitment to ongoing professional development as mandated by Swiss law.
Desirable:
Experience working with different therapeutic models such as CBT, psychoanalysis, systemic therapy, or mindfulness-based approaches.
Experience in addictology.
Experience in crisis intervention and trauma therapy.
Knowledge of Swiss healthcare and insurance systems is a plus.
