For one of our clients, and international pharma company in Basel, we are looking for a Genetics & Genomics Lab research associate.
In this role you will play a key role in the development and implementation of genomic assays for biomarker analysis in both pre-clinical and clinical settings. Your primary responsibility will be hands-on laboratory work, driving innovation and advancing our understanding of genetic and genomic mechanisms in support of therapeutic development.

Tasks & Responsibilities:
- Develop, validate, and implement genetics and genomics-based biomarker assays (e.g., epigenetics, SNVs, CNVs, gene expression signatures, circulating DNA/RNA) to support pre-clinical studies and early-phase clinical trials, characterizing pharmacodynamics and mechanisms of action for novel therapeutics.
- Evaluate and apply cutting-edge genetics and genomics technologies (e.g., single-cell sequencing, spatial-omics, ddPCR) to maximize insights from limited and valuable pre-clinical and clinical samples following GCP standards
- Deliver high-quality biomarker data to project biology and biomarker teams, ensuring impactful contributions to therapeutic development.
- Ensure compliance with Safety, Health, and Environment (SHE) regulations in all laboratory and operational activities, contributing to a safe and sustainable research environment.
- Inspire and train other scientists and associates in applying novel technologies and facilitate the transfer of innovative methods to external collaboration partners.
Must Haves:
- Master's degree or higher in molecular biology, biochemistry, or a related field with substantial experience in biomarker assay development in pre-clinical or clinical settings.
- Deep hands-on expertise in molecular biology techniques (e.g., qPCR, ddPCR) and next-generation sequencing (NGS) platforms, including single-cell and spatial-omics technologies.
- Proficiency in developing, validating, and applying genomic assays across multiple platforms and sample types (e.g., tissue, liquid biopsies).
- Familiarity with implementing genetics and genomics assays in compliance with Good Clinical Practices (GCP) is a plus.
- Fluency in English is required, German would be nice to have
- Ability to think creatively and rigorously in evaluating and developing new technologies for current and emerging scientific modalities.
- Strong focus on ensuring operational compliance in the storage e.g. tracking, and management of samples and data, adhering to established regulatory and organizational standards.
- Strong team player with a collaborative spirit, able to work independently and within agile, matrixed teams.
