We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Commissioning and Qualification (C&Q) Engineer to join our team and support the successful execution of equipment and utility system commissioning. In this role, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring that all systems operate to specifications and compliance standards while working in close collaboration with our engineering and project teams.
As a Commissioning Engineer, for support and align product and production-specific requirements:
Responsibilities:
- Provide field support for the commissioning and qualification of key utility and process systems managed by the DeltaV Distributed Control System (DCS).
- Lead efforts in commissioning critical systems such as clean and black utilities, HVAC for both classified and non-classified areas, environmental monitoring systems, and SIP/CIP systems.
- Ensure all utility systems are commissioned to meet project timelines, quality standards, and operational needs.- Provide field support for the commissioning and qualification of key utility and process systems managed by the DeltaV Distributed Control System (DCS).
- Execute and validate comprehensive commissioning and qualification protocols using the KNEAT electronic documentation system.
- Perform detailed system tests including operational sequence checks (start-up, shutdown, emergency stops), control loop tuning, pump and fan testing, and safety interlock testing.
- Provide expert troubleshooting for any technical issues encountered during commissioning and propose timely, proactive solutions.
- Oversee the integration of DeltaV system hardware and software, ensuring seamless connectivity with various utility systems.
- Work closely with engineering teams to troubleshoot and optimize control system processes, maintaining operational reliability.
- Support the project team by delivering actionable insights that enable quick decision-making aimed at minimizing costs and project delays, without compromising quality.
- Ensure alignment of equipment commissioning with internal standards, cGMP guidelines, and regulatory frameworks.
- Uphold strict safety and compliance protocols, including risk assessment, Lock-Out-Tag-Out (LOTO) preparation, and adherence to Lonza's Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) standards.
- Document issues and non-conformances in the KNEAT system, ensuring timely resolution and tracking of project changes.
- Train and guide team members on commissioning and qualification best practices, ensuring the team remains up to date on the latest methodologies and regulatory requirements.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, contributing innovative solutions to streamline future commissioning efforts.
Desired Profile:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Engineering (Electrical, Chemical, Process Control, or related fields).
- 5-10 years of hands-on experience in process commissioning, with at least 3 years focused on utility systems.
- Proficiency in commissioning and troubleshooting DeltaV DCS, particularly using DeltaV Operate, Live, and Control Studio.
- Familiarity with KNEAT for CQV execution, and a strong understanding of regulatory requirements within the Life Sciences industry.
- Fluent in English, both written and verbal; German proficiency is a plus.
- In-depth knowledge of cGMP standards and field CQV execution.
- Strong problem-solving abilities with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving technical challenges.
- A team player with excellent communication skills, able to work effectively in a diverse, cross-functional environment.
- Willingness to work extended hours and shifts when necessary, ensuring compliance with legal working time regulations.Demonstrated ability to work responsibly, especially with the owned system.
